Statistics show that for every $100 spent in independently owned stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures. If customers shop at chains, only $43 stays local and virtually nothing returns to the community by shopping online.
How the Community Card works
• There is a annual card and 4 seasonal cards available for purchase for promotions and discounts to participating businesses in the greater Kearsarge Area.
The annual card is valid from October 1, 2009 - September 30, 2010.
The seasonal cards are:
Autumn - Oct 1, 2009 to Dec 31, 2009;
Winter - Jan 1, 2010 to March 31, 2010;
Spring - April 1, 2010 to June 30, 2010;
Summer - July 1, 2010 to September 30, 2010.
This gives tourist, locals, students, merchants the flexibility to receive and give discounts based on their needs and time frames.
• Area merchants offer promotions or discounts of their choice and can change the promotion whenever they wish.
• It's free for merchants to enroll in the program and they can be part of the program whenever it works best for them.
• It's a "Show Me" card- no swiping, no credit, no debit.
• Cards will be available for purchase online at KearsargeCorner.com, at participating merchants and at the Lake Sunapee Region Chamber of Commerce Information booth as well as during special town events.
• Cardholders can register online at KearsargeCorner.com for additional discounts & promotions and to receive notification of changes in discounts and new merchants to the program.
• The seasonal cards cost $15 per season and the annual card costs $50 (a $10 savings).
• $5.00 from the sale of each card will be donated to a local charity.
• Merchants who sell the card will receive $2.00 from the sale of every card.
Giving Back & Supporting Your Local Community • Over 50% of every card sold goes directly back into the community. While you support your local merchants you will also be giving back to your local community.
• $5 of each card sold will be donated to a local charity.

• Promtion and printing of the card is done locally.
Bright Ideas • In addition to tourists and local residents purchasing the card for their personal use, the card can be used for other purposes:
- Professional businesses can purchase the cards as corporate gifts, corporate promotions
- Great birthday and holiday gifts / stocking stuffers
- Realtors can present the cards to new home buyers in the area

• It's free for merchants to enroll in the program
• Receive a listing on KearsargeCorner.com with your logo, business information and the discount you are offering.
• Merchants who sell the card receive $2.00 from the sale of every card.
• Display rack for the cards at all participating merchants which will include a brochure explaining how the card works and listing all participating merchants.
• Merchants can set their own discount and can change it as often as they like.
• Merchants can be part of the program for whatever time length best fits their needs.
• Promotion of the program will be made through TheKearsargeCorner.com, TheUpperCorner.com, TheCapitalCorner.com, the Lake Sunapee Region Chamber of Commerce, local publications and during town events.
